After having relatives rave about this place, we agreed to venture across the border on a Monday night. Ridiculous 50 minute wait at the border may have raised expectations of this place a bit, but I've taken two days to write the review, to be fair to the establishment.
This restaurant is a HUGE draw for Canadians on Mondays, as its Cdn money at par. Most of the cars (80%) parked in the area had Ontario license plates...I guess Cdns love a good deal.
The restaurant itself is a massive, cavernous place, designed to fit in as many tables as possible.
When we arrived (approx. 6:20pm) the place was busy, not packed. When we left at around 8ish, there was a wait at the door.
Our server was over shortly after we were seated. She asked if we had been there before and took a drink order. A pitcher of Margaritas, enough for 3 ppl to have 3 1/2 drinks each, for $23 ! Unheard of back in Windsor.
When she returned, she took our order.
Person 1 - Beef Tacos. 3 tacos with sides of Mexican Rice and Refried Beans. He loved it.
Persons 2 & 3 ordered a Melnese Chicken Dinner. A butterfly chicken breast (massive) with salad, refried beans and Mexican Rice. They love this dish and get it everytime they go here. Its so big that they each only finished half.
Person 4 (me)- Chicken Enchiladas. 3 large enchiladas smothered in cheese (and I mean smothered...you couldn't see the enchiladas), with Mexican Rice and Refried beans. I was a little hesitant about the refried beans, as they were visually unappealing, but they were probably the best I've had dining out. I managed to get about 3/4 of my meal done. It's massive.
Our waitress stopped by several times, although she was busy and had a huge section to cover.
4 meals, with a diet Pepsi and a pitcher of Margaritas came to just over $60. We paid in Cdn (as its at par) and left our tip in US cash.
I'd go back again..its worth the trip over, even with a backlog at the border.

Decided to head down town for Mexican food and casino on a Saturday night with some friends.  We decided on Mexican Town restaurant once we got down town.

The waitress we were given was not good.  It took her 10 minutes to greet us and ask us for drink orders.  It took another 10 minutes to bring us the drinks and chips and salsa.  Normally I would think this is okay since it's a busy establishment on Saturday night but multiple other tables got seated with chips and salsa while we waited the 20 minutes.

All that being said the food was absolutely amazing!   The chips were extremely fresh and the salsa was a nice flavor.   I ordered the chicken chimichangas with cheese on top and toppings on the side.   It was maybe the best Mexican food I have ever had!!!

I traveled here to check out some old school memories in the Mexican Town area. I decided to go here because I had not been here in some years.

The inside looked the same. We were given some nachos with salsa and of course I asked for the salsa with a little kick.  I ordered a liter of blue margaritas and the flaming fajita. You can get it with chicken, shrimp or beef. You can also get it with a meat mix. We opted for the chicken. The fajita arrived quickly. The waitress set it aflame. The signature chicken covered with cheese was great. It also came with flour tortillas to wrap It in. It had chucks of chicken, green peppers and onions covered in cheese.  It also tasted as I remember. The one downside is the grease that is accumulated from the cheese. However I would recommend it. This meal will feed 2 or even 4 depending on your appetite. It is one of the best fajitas around. I will be back.

A bit disappointed. It's been awhile since we've been to Mexican town but I remember service being much much better. It definitely wasn't for lack of servers and there wasn't but a handful of people in the entire restaurant.
